Around Town
This post couldn't really qualify for a "drive by shooting." I needed to find a good city skyline for a project I'm doing next week (which I cannot divulge until I post the pictures...I will have to leave you with great suspense, dear reader!). After my Old Market family shoot Saturday, I drove around downtown with my eye on the skyline. And not the road. After experiencing a couple of "Whoa..." moments (ie., "Whoa...I'd better get out of that guy's lane..." Or "Whoa...my bumper is gettin kinda cozy with that guy's fender..." that sort of thing. I hope my husband isn't reading this entry. He'll take the keys away and ground me for a week), I found a suitable but less than desirable skyline.
This angle had so much "stuff" in the way. I hate clutter and gobbledygoop. I went home unhappy with my selection. I chatted about my disappointment with my brilliant husband, who suggested I google "Omaha City Skylines" for some inspiration! (He's secretly a private investigator in his spare time, so Google is one of his very good friends.) Did I mention my DH is brilliant?? Through a series of investigations of my own (I've learned the trade), I discovered the PERFECT location for my project next week. But I had to see it for myself to confirm the fit. So yesterday, I drove downtown and parked my car. Fortunately the city wasted millions of dollars...I mean the city was thoughtful enough to label the meters for all of us blithering idiots who have no idea how to parallel park downtown.
And now for a few of the sites.
This little guy and I played a tight game of "chicken" on the riverwalk.
After this shot, I took the next step, and he lost.
I later found him eating his fears away.
I tried to explain to him that they have therapy for that, but an odd glance or two from passersby shut me up pretty quickly. I don't think he was listening anyhow.

DENIAL!
So, back to downtown...It's not often you can look "down" on a tree.
Some day when the kids are grown and we "retire", this will be our home of choice!
Or maybe this:
With an incredible balcony like this:
And this shot is dedicated to that brilliant, PI husband of mine. Afterall, it is thanks to him I stumbled on this view. I'll give you 3 guesses at his name. Hint: It's not "13."
This guy has the right idea of a "cool down"
I heart Omaha!!
Stay tuned for next week's project!
