A Wedding Proposal - in Church!
We spent the better part of last week in Denver, CO at a preaching conference at First Baptist Church. My husband preached on Thursday morning. And he preached a great sermon - if I do say so myself. (I'm so glad God chose me to be a preacher's wife!) At the conclussion of the service, the host pastor stood to dismiss everyone when suddenly a gentleman in the crowd (a member of the host church) jumped to his feet and asked if he could take the microphone. Galin called Andrea to the front of the auditorium. As she walked to the front, it dawned on me (without knowing either parties) what was about to happen. They were standing smack in front of me - literally 2 rows ahead of me. I had been using my 70-200 lens during the service and didn't have enough time to switch to my wider angle. I was also in a predicament being in the center of a long row, with people on both sides of me, and Andrea had her back to me. So I went with what I had, which required several tilt shots and included a music stand in my way. In hind site, I wish I had made a mad dash, climbing over people or rows for a better view. I'll remember that next time I'm in the middle of an impropmtu.
But back to the story - Galin began by telling Andrea how much he loved her and wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. He descended the stairs, knelt down, took her hand (I love classic proposals - they never bore me), and asked her to marry him. See the pictures below for her answer...
